As of July 1, 2023, Marcel Dostal will take over as Kaprain’s new chief executive officer after having led the company’s telecommunications business. He takes over from Romana Benešová, who held the post for more than 6 years. Mr. Dostal will be joined by new Chief Operations Officer Jan Kolací.

“On behalf of Kaprain, I want to thank Romana for her work. She was incredibly important for the team, and we look forward to working together again in the future. I wish her only the best in her professional and personal life,” Kaprain owner Karel Pražák said.

Since taking over as CEO in March 2017, Romana Benešová succeeded in building up Spolchemie, expanding Kaprain’s real estate development business, and making Nej.cz into one of the biggest players on the telecommunications market.

“These past few years have been busy and full of challenges. I’m very pleased that the Kaprain I’m leaving is much stronger than the one I joined,” Romana Benešová said.

Kaprain’s new CEO is Marcel Dostal, who has worked at the group for eight years and led the company’s telecommunications division where it acquired dozens of companies and made Nej.cz into one of the biggest players on the market.

“I’m convinced that our success is built on capable and motivated people, and I see my main role as creating an environment where they can grow and reach their full potential,” Dostal said.

Jan Kolací will join Mr. Dostal as COO. He has worked at Kaprain since its founding and has mainly participated in structured financing, planning, cashflow management, and leading several of the group’s companies.

“Marcel has years of success on the Czech telecommunications market and leading prestigious financial and investment companies. I look forward to seeing him leverage this experience to further develop our company. Honza Kolací has been with us since the beginning and I’m convinced that he will contribute to Kaprain’s continued growth,” Karel Pražák added.

Marcel Dostal graduated from the Brno University of Technology and later earned an MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. He worked at PPF beginning in 1997 in various executive positions in investment, specifically the deputy chairman of the board at Česká pojišťovna and head of investments and asset management at the company as well as at Generali PPF Holding. He also held the positions of CEO of Generali PPF Asset Management, the largest asset manager in the Czech Republic which at the time managed over CZK 200 billion.

Jan Kolací graduated from the Prague University of Economics and Business and the Prague Banking Institute. Since 1995, he’s held executive positions at Investiční a Poštovní banka, Česká konsolidační agentuřa, and PPF. He also held leading positions at TV Prima, Eden Arena, the Panorama Praha and Intercontinental hotels, and a Karlovarský porcelán.
